"Eulogy For A Destitute"

my friend,
my oldest friend,
never second guessing,
walked away in search of a blessing,
away from the sugar that he blamed his woes on.
my friend,
my truest friend,
no secrets or lies,
turned his head from me without a goodbye,
no explanation for the fuzzy logic he fed on.

as he encouraged me to fall,
I held his hand and smiled,
we were spun, standing tall,
now he seems like he's the one perched high,
naturally, ahead in the good life,
he dropped his burners and lighters,
so he could never again fall behind.

my friend,
my best friend,
always there for me,
until he found a full night sleep's reality,
even though I was with him here at every step.
my friend,
my lost friend,
oblivious to my love,
perhaps you're better off, you've had enough,
it's tough, you associate me with every mistep that you've made.
